2021 Joseph M Still Burn Symposium

This activity is focused around the patient that sustains a burn injury. The circle of care that surrounds these patients begins in the pre-hospital arena and extends through their reconstruction, often years after the acute injury. The conference will focus on many of these phases of care to increase the knowledge of the wide variety of nursing and medical professionals that come into contact with these patients throughout their treatment. The presenters will speak on a specific burn disaster and the modalities of care during that incident. Additionally, the current early interventions will be discussed along with several case studies to highlight the points presented. Moving further through the continuum of care will explore technologies that can be used to minimize pain and then options for reconstruction of different deformities resulting from the burn injury. At the conclusion a survivor will share her story with the audience to provide the perspective of our patients and how our care has impacted her.

1. Understand the role lasers play in the delivery of drugs
2. Understand mortality between “hot pot” injuries compared to NBR
3. Understand ways burn care has changed since COVID-19
4. Understand the general management and treatment interventions for patients with neuropsychiatric sequelae from burn injury.
5. Understand use of adjunctive therapies (ie. PRP, Exosomes, Stem Cells)
6. Understand indications for the use of Supracel and Re-cell techniques both separately and together
7. Understand strategic plans and concepts so as to be prepared for a large-scale disaster
8. Understand the emotional and psychological struggles of a patient's journey
9. Understand better ways that providers can positively effect the patients outcome

3. Identify approaches used to help deliver burn care during COVID-19
4. Identify the general management and treatment interventions for patients with neuropsychiatric sequelae from burn injury.
5. Identify use of energy based devices for burn scar rehabilitation
6. Identify the use of Supracel and Re-cell techniques both separately and together
7. Identify strategic plans and concepts so as to be prepared for a large-scale disaster
8. Identify the emotional and psychological obstacles in a patient's journey

If there is a fee associated with the education module then the following policy applies.

Cancellations received in writing no less than 20 days before the course will be refunded, less a 20% administrative fee. No refunds will be made on cancellations received after that date. Please send cancellation requests to foundation@burnfdn.org.

BRCA Foundation reserves the right to cancel or postpone this program if necessary; in the event of cancellation, course fees will be fully refunded. We are not responsible for other costs incurred such as non-refundable airline tickets or hotel penalties.
